The Division I Women's Volleyball Committee has selected Washington, Penn State, Texas and Dayton to host regional competition for the 2010 Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship.
The committee also picked Florida, Minnesota, Hawaii and Kentucky as regional hosts for 2011.
The four 2010 regional sites are:
- Bank of America Arena at the University of Washington in Seattle
- Rec Hall at Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania
- Gregory Gymnasium at the University of Texas at Austin
- University of Dayton Arena in Dayton, Ohio
Those regionals will be played December 10-11, 2010.
In 2011, the four regional sites are:
- Stephen C. O’Connell Center at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida
- Sports Pavilion at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, in Minneapolis
- Honolulu/Stan Sherriff Center at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, in Honolulu, Hawaii
- Memorial Coliseum at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky
Those regionals will take place December 9-10, 2011.
“The committee is excited to offer these opportunities to the institutions that bid on the regional championships,” said Terry Gawlik, the chair of the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Committee and the associate athletics director at Wisconsin. “It’s great to see institutions not only willing and able to host but also providing an avenue to expose and grow the volleyball championship across the country.”
The finals sites for both years already have been determined. The University of Missouri, Kansas City, and the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission will host the 2010 championship at the Sprint Center. In 2011, the University of Texas at San Antonio and the San Antonio Sports Foundation will host the championship at the Alamodome.
