Hello high school athletes!

Today, we begin a series called Scholarship Central. Sports Advisor Tim Livingston from. www.sportsworx.com will join us to help you better your chances of earning a college scholarship.

If you're a parent, this is also must-see. We will give you advice on how to find your way and pick a college destination that suits your child athletically and academically.

As a former high school athlete, I wish I had somebody tell me this when I was playing sports at Jesuit and Leto in the 1990's. Figuring out where you stand, getting noticed, planning where to visit, and finding out who to contact, can be a complex and complicated task.

Some athletes have the colleges come to them, but your choices should not be limited to those. For the athletes who don't draw the immediate attention, that does not mean they have no college athletic future. And what about the ones who compete for a coach who does not make helping his players get to the next level a priority? You need to have your own plan. Bottom line, earning a scholarship on a college roster is a game and we're gonna show you how to play it!

The first part of our series is directed toward the parent.

 -------------------------------------------------------------------------

The majority of high school athletes who are passionate and serious about what they play would like to one day earn a college scholarship.

Behind an athlete's motivation, is parental support and guidance. Most of the time, it is the athlete's greatest strength in their search. There are some times however, when parental guidance becomes overkill...when their desires and goals overshadow their son or daughter's.

Tim Livingston puts the parental role in perspective in our debut of Scholarship Central
